This presentation will highlight the significant impact of insurance fraud—one of the largest and most costly crimes in America. According to the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud, an estimated $308.6 billion is lost each year due to fraudulent claims.
We will explore how Liberty Mutual’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detects, investigates and helps prevent fraudulent activity. Attendees will gain insight into common fraud schemes, red flags to watch for and proactive steps employers can take to reduce risk and protect their organizations from financial loss.

Jodi Cooper is Director of Special Investigations for Liberty Mutual’s Commercial North America Claims. She has been in this role for four years, and with Liberty Mutual for 17 years. Jodi has additional claims and SIU experience with another major carrier, for combined experience of more than 25 years across both personal and commercial lines. She holds an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and a Masters degree from Boston University, along with her CPCU and Claims Law Associate designations.
Jodi leads an SIU operation comprised of 65 investigators, analysts and their leaders located across the country handling both field and desk investigations and with varying backgrounds including insurance claims, law enforcement, analytics and medical coding.
